These Stranger Things Clothes are Absolute Must-Haves!

I've been a HUGE Stranger Things fan since season one, but I am an even bigger one now, thanks to the awesomeness of Season 2 (read my review of it here - I also have an ongoing giveaway, peeps!). So, when I heard that Globe and Netflix were releasing a line of Stranger Things apparel and merchandise, I'm pretty sure I was one of the first few people to order a whole bunch of items from them online.
As always, my orders arrived in just a few days and MY GOODNESS, THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT. My geeky heart is very, very happy.
If you are a Stranger Things fan, it's time to string up those Joyce Byer-inspired Christmas lights onto your walls, break out those Eggos, and don these bad-ass clothes from Globe and Netflix.
The best part? This 0917 Lifestyle apparel pushes for Filipino pride as it is the only official licensee in Asia to carry Stranger Things apparel so far.
The 0917 Lifestyle Stranger Things collection features a limited edition collection of graphic tees, ringer shirts, sweaters, a letterman jacket, a shirt dress, and bags that do Stranger Things real justice.
Some of the references that fans will appreciate include images related to the Stranger Things kids, as well as my favorites: the items with famous likes on them, like “Friends Don’t Lie”. A lot of the items also offer visual homages to Hawkins and the Upside Down world, complete with that irresistible retro 80’s feel.

Watch my noob unboxing video here:

To see the entire 0917 Lifestyle Stranger Things collection visit shop.globe.com.ph or visit selected Globe stores. You may also follow @0917 on Instagram. I may just have another giveaway for this one, too, though. ;) Who wants?

Globe Cleans Up and Plants Corals After LaBoracay

It was quite depressing to see the posts that people shared on social media after the crazy parties of LaBoracay. Trash could be seen everywhere,  including in the ocean, and it made me feel helpless because I had no idea how I could help from here in the city.

Fortunately, Globe came up with a great initiative. While Globe did host the #GlobeSunkissed party at White House during the long Labor Day Weekend, they also spearheaded a beach clean-up to try their best to bring Boracay back to its pristine condition.

"Our employees, partners, and clients have come together to mitigate the impact of the weekend activities on the beach of Boracay. While giving local customers and tourists the best weekend party at LaBoracay, we also exerted effort to ensure we don't compromise the natural beauty of the island,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications.

In anticipation of the big volume of trash that is often left behind after huge gatherings, Globe organized a team of volunteers to scour White Beach, Station 1 every morning at 7-9 am from April 29 to May 1 to rid the area of garbage.  If not collected properly, this may cause health and environmental problems to the community.

The 46 volunteers include Globe employees, media partners, Solid Waste Management team of Malay local government, and representatives from Cambridge University Press. Together, they collected empty bottles, plastic containers, cigarette butts, and biodegradables which were segregated accordingly.

A total of 130 bags full of trash were collected after three days. In parallel, some volunteers also designed new trash drums decorated with water-based paint, which were left as donations to Sea Wind and White House resorts.

Apart from the beach clean-up activity, 25 Globe executives and guests also participated in the planting of coral fragments in nursery rafts provided by Boracay Foundation, Inc (BFI).  The corals will later on be transferred to BFI’s identified underwater nurseries.  BFI is a non-profit, non-stock association aimed at sustaining the island’s environmental, business, and social needs. The activity aims to raise awareness and educate the public, especially those visiting the island, on the importance of coral transplantation. This is one way to help ensure marine life biodiversity, environment conservation and sustainable eco-tourism.

Fun fact: Globe has been actively helping Boracay with its environmental initiatives since 2012. :)

Meet and Greet Cartoon Network Characters at BGC This Weekend!

To celebrate the new offerings of their Cartoon Network apps, Globe has a fun weekend in store at BGC this weekend - specifically for kids and kids-at-heart who absolutely love Cartoon Network! :)

The new features are being showcased through a fun digital experience at the Globe ICONIC Store at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater in BGC.

Once you enter, you get a chance to fill up one of these 'passports'. If you fill everything up, you get the chance to win a new phone or a cool Cartoon Network loot bag!

Look! Syrena got to meet Gumball and Darwin!

Free Kimy popsicles all day! (Not a good idea for the kiddies, though. :p)

Cool Ben 10 merch on sale!

Sign up and instantly get Safeguard products!

The bad-ass stage at the Globe ICONIC store.

Kids get to line up for face painting or body painting.

They can doodle and color whilst there, too!

I love how organised this mini bouncy castle was. :)

Of course, the highlights all happened onstage:

The Powerpuff Girls have a very cute choreographed segment prepared for everybody.

Even Finn and Jake make an appearance.

And look - Ben 10 is there, too!

Love Cartoon Network? Well, thanks to Globe Telecom, Globe customers can now livestream Cartoon Network and on-demand content on the Cartoon Network Watch and Play app.

Just download the app (it's free!) and unlock various services, including livestreaming Cartoon Network on your devices, playing games, and getting access to full episodes on demand. A unique micro-network called Cartoon Network Anything is now part of the Globe app bundle, as well.

My 6-year-old is definitely a very happy camper now that she can be a hero with Ben 10 and the Omnitrix, rule the Candy Kingdom with Princess Bubblegum, flip out with The Powerpuff Girls and embark on mathematical adventures with Finn and Jake whenever she wants.

Check out how the app works here:

Did I mention there's a 30-day free trial this November? I definitely don't see us deleting the app anytime soon, though. Thanks, Globe, for the awesomeness that both Syrena and I can enjoy! :) Cartoon Network Anything can also be accessed for free via the Globe Switch app.

Don' forget to like Cartoon Network Asia and Globe Telecom on Facebook for more updates and fun stuff! :)

8 Helpful Tips for Pokemon GO Newbies to Get Ahead

Gear up, trainers! Pokemon is finally available in the Philippines, and it’s time to fulfill your dreams of becoming a Pokémon master! Developed by Niantic Inc., Pokemon GO blends the much beloved world of the classic Pokemon game with the real physical world through augmented reality.

As a player of the game, you must start your journey as a Pokemon Trainer to catch Pokémon, train them and eventually become a Pokemon Master. However, unlike other mobile games, Pokemon GO requires you to put more physical effort and even strategy to progress and master the game. Here are some tips to help when starting your Pokemon GO quest.

8 Tips to Make the Most of Your Pokemon GO Journey

8. Always bring extra power.

Playing Pokemon GO uses internet either through mobile data or WiFi, GPS to locate you and Pokémon nearby, and even your camera as part of the augmented reality experience, resulting to heavy battery drain when playing the game. It is best to always bring an extra power bank with you to keep your game going.

7. Have fun, but stay aware of your surroundings.

Holding your phone in public can possibly attract thieves who may steal your phone. You might be also too distracted around you when you are enjoying too much of the game, so be alert by keeping on the lookout from time to time!

6. Use your items wisely.

Don't get carried away in your excitement to catch Pokemon. Poke Balls and other items are not unlimited, so use them wisely. When catching Pokemon, keep the Pokemon centered in your camera frame, so you can catch them more accurately.

Don’t worry, though. Poke Balls can always be acquired at Pokestops, or if you ever do run out of Poke Balls, you can purchase them in bulk using Pokecoins. Need Pokecoins? With Globe, you can easily buy more on Google Play via the hassle-free Direct Carrier Billing, so you can easily charge to your postpaid bill or prepaid credits!

5. Stay on the lookout for Pokestops.

Pokestops are there to provide you with items to help you catch Pokémon, and can sometimes be spots where Pokemon appear when lure modules are applied. Pokestops are mostly located in nearby convergence areas such as malls, parks, basketball courts or even mural paintings and statues and refresh within a few minutes, so keep on collecting items! Watch out for Pokestops with lots of petals, too! This means that someone has activated a lure module there, and nearby Pokemon will be attracted to it for 30 minutes. You can activate this, too, by purchasing Lure Modules using Pokecoins.

Hint: You can check out https://www.ingress.com/intel  for potential Pokestop and Pokemon Gym locations, as Pokemon GO uses the same data collected and used by the game Ingress, which is also developed by Niantic.

4. Form a good team!

Are you team Instinct, Mystic or Valor? Once you reach level 5, you have to choose which side you will be on. It’s best to form a team within your neighborhood or friends to give you a better advantage in certain situations, such as taking over Gyms, which allows you to gain prestige for your team and allows more Pokemon from your team to defend the Gym. Plus, if one of your Pokemon is defending the gym, you can get Pokecoins for free every 21 hours your Pokemon is in the gym.

3. Transfer duplicate Pokemon for candy.

Catching Pokemon might get you a lot of the same kind of Pokemon. Got 10 Pidgeys? Transfer the 9 weakest ones to Professor Willow for Pidgey candies! Candies are needed to increase the combat power (CP) and other stats of your Pokemon.

Get enough candies and you can evolve your Pokemon to their stronger forms.

2. Hatch those eggs.

Hatching eggs will require you to travel, so make sure you place eggs in an incubator whenever you plan to do so. Right now, eggs can hatch at distances of 10km, 5km and 2km, depending on the rarity of the Pokemon inside.

1. Level up faster.

Use Lucky Eggs to double the experience that you gain in the game. Couple this with lures or incense to catch more Pokemon and to gain more experience.

Pokemon GO just started in the Philippines, so it's inevitable for more trainers to join in the days to come. Competition is sure to become more intense, but hopefully, these tips will help you get ahead of others.

If you want to maximise your data and enjoy playing the game without worries, Globe offers 7 free days of access to Pokemon GO via the Globe Switch app. Go get your gear ready and catch 'em all!

Disney Channel Apps: Fun and Parental Security in One

Fellow mommies, rejoice! It is now possible to watch Disney programs with our kids wherever and whenever we want to, thanks to Globe's newest apps: Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior (obviously, we downloaded all of them :p).

My 6-year-old daughter Syrena is a huge Disney fan - just like me. :D Unfortunately, I don't have cable TV in my room, so whenever she wants to binge-watch her favorite Disney channels, she has to bicker with my dad over the TV in his room. And when she wins, I don't get to monitor her TV-watching habits.

Now that these apps exist, I won't just get to enjoy fun Disney programs with Syrena; I'll also get to properly monitor what she watches every single day.

If you're a fellow Globe subscriber, then you can enjoy a 30-day free trial of the apps by signing up for a Globe Interactive Account. After that, you can enjoy full access to this premium content through the Disney129 or Disney299 subscription plans or by signing up for GoSURF999 and up subscription plans. Even without a Globe Interactive Account, though, you can still enjoy limited video on demand content through the apps.

The Disney Channels Apps are available on supported devices including any iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running on iOS 7.0 and above, and Android smartphones and tablet devices running on Android 4.1 and above.

For more information on the apps, visit sea.disney.asia/Disney-app

2015 Movies that are Perfect for the New Gary at the Movies Viber Stickers

I've been using GMovies for about a month now, and I have to say it's one of the best ways to stay updated on current and upcoming movie releases in cinemas nationwide, check daily movie schedules, reserve good seats, and buy movie tickets straight from the convenience of my phone. No more phrases like "Let's Google it… Oh, wait… Signal is bad…", "I'm Googling, but the Internet is slow", or "The website doesn't seem to be updated." Do you feel me?

Globe Telecom's GMovies has just entered into a partnership with Power Plant Cinemas, so more users can experience the convenience of buying tickets and reserving seats on an app!

And, as mentioned in my Potato Night post, there are new FREE stickers ready for download on Viber, thanks to GMovies! And let's face it: which kuripot person doesn't get excited about Viber stickers? (I really want those Minions ones, though! Huhuhu.)

The stickers are called “Gary at the Movies”, introducing the new movie-loving toon character. You can also catch Gary making guest appearances at the Enjoy Globe Viber Public Chat!

Here are some upcoming movies for you to try GMovies with:

Laugh it up with the latest Pixar characters!

Paper Towns - July 24, 2015
John Green always hits us right in the heart.

Fantastic Four - August 7, 2015
Coz superhero movies are perfect date movies.

For the horror buffs.

Hitman: Agent 47 - August 21, 2015
For the action buffs.

GoSURF50: Play Your Favorite Games Anytime, Anywhere!

If you are a gamer and a Globe user like me, then I've got some awesome news for youuuuu. XD You don't even have to be a hardcore gamer for this. If you're mildly addicted to Candy Crush or Clash of Clans, then you'd better read on, as well. ;)

Thanks to Globe Telecom, you can now take your digital lifestyle to the next level with FREE access to your favorite games. You just need to register to a GoSURF data plan. My current fave? GoSURF50.

By registering to GoSURF50, you can enjoy access to top mobile games like Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Summoners War, Soul Seeker, Candy Crush Saga, Candy Crush Soda Saga, Hay Day, Dungeon Hunter 5, Brave Frontier, and Asphalt 8: Airborne on your mobile phone or tablet for 3 whole days.

Here's what I've been up to lately:

Building up my base in Clash of Clans.

Kicking ass in Candy Crush Soda Saga.

Trying out new games, like Summoneer's War.

Hihi. Add me up on Facebook, so we can play together! :D

GoSURF50 is available to Globe Prepaid, Postpaid, TM, and Tattoo customers for only Php50 and is valid for 3 days. With it, you will get 300MB of data that you can use to browse your favorite sites online and  an additional 400MB of free data to access your favorite games plus Spotify – anytime, anywhere.

This is perfect coz let's face it: which true Clash of Clan-er can survive a day without checking their base and participating in a Clan War? And which true Candy Crush-er can survive hours of traffic without crashing a few candies together? And which true Hay Day-er... okay, fine. I can survive a day without Hay Day. But it's still cute as hell. ;p

Globe is aware that mobile games are now part of everyone's digital lifestyle, so they have upgraded GoSURF50 to provide mobile and broadband customers the leisure of playing games on their devices without worrying about data allocation.

Did I mention that you can also access premium online content with it, such as Spotify, NBA, and HOOQ? Chyeah!

"The enhanced GoSURF50 is our response to the market’s constantly-growing appetite for digital content and the growing mobile gaming industry in the country. With more data allocation plus free access to premium online content such as games and more, GoSURF is your best companion to be always connected and entertained while on-the-go,” says Globe Vice President for Content Jil Go.

If you don't have enough load or simply forgot your portable Wi-Fi at home, you can also get GoSURF for as low as Php10 valid for 1 day with GoSURF10.

To know more or to keep updated about GoSURF, text GoSURF50 to 8888 or text "GoSURF FREE" to 8888 to get detailed information about the different freebies you can get with the promo. To know more or to keep updated about GoSURF50, visit www.globe.com.ph/gosurf or www.tattoo.globe.com.ph/promos/gosurf.

Maximize Your Spotify Account with Globe Galaxy S5

If there's one thing that I love most in the world, it's music. In fact, Tom Cruise aside, music is probably the only constant love in my life.

Since I have a very wide range of well-loved artists in my heart, though, the biggest problem that I used to have with my music players is a lack of space. Ever since I moved to Manila, another problem that I've had is the lack of my-kind-of-music in this country. (I'm not a very masa girl, y'see. Lol.)

As such, you cannot begin to understand how much my life was made when Spotify made it into my life. I was first introduced to it by "Steve" sometime in March. I tried it out for myself when I got home and BOOM. That is when my love affair and addiction with Spotify began. True story.

Things only got better for me Spotify-wise when I got my postpaid Globe Galaxy S5. See, with a postpaid plan for a Globe Galaxy S5, you will get a free 6-Month subscription to Spotify Premium. That's right. You will get to experience the best of the best of Spotify for 6 whole months FOR FREE! Yahooooo!

And since I'm in such an I-love-Spotify mood, let me share another awesome feature with this baby: the Connect feature.

The Connect feature on Spotify basically lets you control different devices from every device that your Spotify is linked to. Prior to my Globe Galaxy S5, I actually had an iPhone 5C, which my Spotify was originally linked to.

When I leant my 5C to the busker, I noticed that whenever I turned on my Spotify from my S5, I could see what he was listening to. KILIG ALERT.

Even better: whenever we would text and I told him about a song he wasn't familiar with or vice versa, we could simply switch it on each other's device in real-time. Of course, we also annoyed each other with songs like this one:

I swear, though: the first time I was listening to songs on Spotify in the middle of the night and he texted "check Spotify" and the song suddenly changed to Foy Vance's "Guiding Light" featuring Ed Sheeran, my heart melted. The song instantly became my lullaby that night.

The best part? We could both add songs onto the Playlist, so I could see which songs he recently liked and vice versa and... my God, even though there is no chance in hell he and I will ever become a couple… those moments screamed KILIG ALERT.

If you're actually in a relationship, I'd highly recommend sharing your Spotify Premium account. HIGHLY. RECOMMEND. IT. That is all.

For more information on Globe and their postpaid plans, make sure to like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter: @enjoyGLOBE and @talk2GLOBE :) Don't forget to like Spotify on Facebook and follow them on Twitter, as well: @Spotify_PH :)
