Spoiling people makes me happy.

Spoiling people makes me happy.

So, if I genuinely like you (as a person, in general); I have most probably spoiled you at one point or another (if not to death). I have probably treated you at one point, bought you a random gift and helped you out as best I could every single time I knew you needed help. (I have a superhero complex. Sorry.)

Recently, however, it has come to my attention that I have stopped caring as much as I used to. In fact, I've been getting more and more stuff for myself instead of getting stuff for other people.

Of course, most of the stuff are geeky stuff; otherwise, they wouldn't really be that effective at making me happy. Check out these awesome finds from Fandom Trinkets, for example (segue award!):

It's a geeky dream come true!

I was initially a lil torn between feeling happy that I had stocked up on geekiness and feeling depressed because I no longer had anyone to spoil - especially with Christmas around the corner and with long overdue checks finally pouring in left and right!

The depression won out, though. In fact, it got so bad that I returned all of the Christmas gifts that I had previously bought for people I considered my "close friends".

This behaviour isn't completely unwarranted, though. I just became more human, so to speak. I think my superhero tendencies faded away the same time my heart broke for the umpteenth time last Halloween.

That's when I noticed that these people I considered my "closest friends" didn't really care about me very much. If I didn't contact them first, they would never even bother to contact me.

One of them even stopped talking to me completely because he got so fed up of my whining and another one of them only talked to me because she wanted something. And this is with all of them knowing how much heartbreak I went through, too! Friendship, my balls.

And the guy who broke my heart to begin with? He told his dad that the reason I hadn't been around was coz I was "too busy" with other things. Me. The friendless one who does nothing but work, read and watch movies all day (all at home and all alone, I might add). Busy. What a laugh and a half.

I didn't mean for this blog post to turn sour. I just wanted you all to know that I am so over 2014 and everyone and everything in it. It has been a bad year for most of my friends the people that I know and I just can't wait for it to end, so I can start fresh, vanquish all of these bad vibes and find people worth keeping for a change.

What are your plans for 2015?

adidas Originals x Pharrell Williams Tennis Pack: Nothing Beats Simplicity

adidas Originals x Pharrell Williams Tennis Pack: Nothing Beats Simplicity

I have never kept my love for adidas a secret. In fact, if you follow me on social media, you should know how much of an adidas fanatic I am. Well, I also happen to love Pharrell Williams. So, when I heard about his collaboration with adidas Originals for a 'Tennis Pack'; I couldn't wait to see what he would come up with.

I was not disappointed.

Surprisingly, Pharrell Williams keeps things simple with this Tennis Pack - but that is the beauty of it all. You have the option to keep things as simple as possible by going with the white, or you can bring some vibrancy into the mix with the brighter options. Shoes aside, satin track jackets are also offered in the same spirited hues.

Overall, this collaboration is built on a vibrant sense of optimism, highlighting the importance of equality - and I absolutely love the ads that they made to highlight that. Don't you?

The collection features a playful take on the Stan Smith sneaker's sport performance roots, introducing the iconic silhouette in some of the same brightly-colored felts from which tennis balls are constructed.

I'm a khaleesi.

When I was younger, there was nothing I wanted more than to be a Disney princess. The older I got, though, the less I liked the idea of Disney princesses.

Let's face it. What do Disney princesses do, really, aside from look pretty, sing a lot and wait for their respective princes to come rescue them? (Not that I would mind getting rescued by a certain Prince… Hehe.)

The older I got, the more I realised I wasn't Disney princess material. As my mother repeatedly pointed out as I was growing up, I'm the only Rodriguez who doesn't have a nice voice. So, when my sister and my brother sang beautifully at embassy Christmas parties, I was assigned to play the piano. Lol.

Aside from that, it also became blatantly clear to me that I wasn't pretty in the way that most Filipinos define pretty, i.e. tall, skinny, and fair-skinned. As for getting rescued... I have a superhero complex that I just can't crack.

So, when Daenerys Targaryen came into my geeky life and changed my entire perspective on royalty, I knew it was time to give up the Disney mentality and embrace my inner khaleesi-ness instead.

This shirt from The Dream Shirt is perfect for me.

I generally get a lot of flack for not being a girly girl. Most of my friends are dudes; I sit with my legs wide open (when I'm not wearing a skirt); I say what's on my mind - sometimes without thinking; and I enjoy cigarettes, booze, and casual sex (so sue me!).

And I guess this is why I'm single. Apparently, my aggressiveness and straightforwardness is intimidating to guys. And I guess this is why there aren't any Disney princesses who are independent and can think for themselves, either. Because Disney knows that guys don't like that.

Or maybe I'm just bitter.

I fell in love this year, only to get my heart stomped on and pissed on afterwards. It wasn't a great feeling. If anything, though, it taught me who my true friends are and it taught me to value myself and to know my worth.

I also learned that you can't choose who you fall in love with. It just happens. And if that person doesn't reciprocate your love, you need to let go, no matter how much it hurts; and just hope against hope that one day, you will eventually fall out of love with that person.

I wasted a lot of time, tears and money for this guy I fell for. I also lived in months filled with denial, dishonesty, disloyalty, disrespect, false hope and second chances turned twenty-second chances.

But at the end of the day, I fell out of love. As with the babydaddy, I just stopped caring. Sure, I still look back and think about the wasted everythings every now and then. Nasasayangan pa rin ako minsan coz everyone knows we were the greatest thing since stuffed crust. But hey. Sith happens. And life goes on. It has to go on. As Jason put it: "Giving up is not an option."

In other words, don't be a whiny Disney princess. Be a fucking khaleesi.
