Insanity Hits.

Found some super old photos that Zia took of me around November-ish during a coffee sesh at Boheme (read: before Christmas time made me ultra fat again) and I figured I should post them, so I can go all emo on my blog again. It's my blog and I can do what I want to, do what I want to…

If you follow my blog and/or social media posts, you should know by now that I'm generally a very hopeful (albeit emotional) person. I overthink, I mope and I brood more than Ryan Atwood and Lucas Scott combined.

My hamartia is that I always hold onto the faintest sliver of hope, even when everyone else tells me there is none. This is why I have an estel (Elvish word for "hope") tatt.

While my friends always try so hard to murder my hopes and dreams and wake me up to this world they call reality, I keep refusing to give up on the awesome possibilities of life and potential love.

While it may be true that this kind of false hope is what made me waste years of my life on babydaddy and on my last long-term boyfriend, I'd like to believe that real hope still exists somehow.

It is also true that there is no guarantee of a happy ending to the things that I hope for - there never is a guarantee for anything, really, though! - but is it really a crime to be hopeful about something that other people no longer believe in, take seriously, or fight for? I mean, without hope, what do you live for?

starfish necklace from House of Luxe

There might not be any guarantee of a happy ending for me with this guy that I currently like, but there's nothing wrong with waiting to find out, is there? Besides, who says I won't feel any differently myself when the truth finally comes out?

foldable flats from The Little Things She Needs

Around the same time that these photos were taken, I set an ultimatum with Megann: that I would wait until my next birthday for "Steve" (changed his name to save his dignity) to break up with his girlfriend and run into my arms.

My birthday is less than 2 weeks away. Has he left her? No. Do I care? No. That's the thing about feelings. They come and go as situations change and as other people enter your life.

So, why hope at all? Coz it gives me something to strive for and to move towards: a promise worth living for that could potentially be fulfilled.

Besides, in a world where everyone else is giving up on love, faking love and denouncing love altogether; it's nice to know that I still have the energy to be hopeful about something. Even if I don't remember what requited love feels like anymore.

Come hope with me.

To Follow the Heart or the Mind?

This month has been a bit of a down one for me and some of my closest friends so far. There were unexpected expenses, sudden lifestyle changes, a couple of heartbreaks and a lot of reality checks, all of which resulted in decisions needing to be made. The big question always seemed to be: should I follow my heart or my mind?

sheer white musical top from I Heart Matilda / black leather jacket from Folded & Hung / vintage glasses from Four Eyes / flower necklace from Accessorize / Pacman bracelet from Yummycharm Shop

If I learned anything within these past few weeks, though, it is that it doesn't matter whether you follow your heart or your mind - as long as you follow something of your own instead of the advice of people who haven't been through what you have been through or those who seem to be pulling their advice out of their asses because they know what you want to hear or really don't care very much about your predicament. Halata bang may hugot?

I made the sad and sorry mistake of following the advice of one of my heartbroken friends and within a few days, I realised how sour, miserable and unhappy had suddenly become (yes, even more so than my emo self usually was).

The minute I reverted back to talking to the people that I was meant to cut out of my life coz they were "unhealthy" for me; I started being chipper and just happier, in general.

See, what I realised is that, no matter how awesome your friends are or how much you might be overthinking certain scenarios, you should never give up on the things and other people and things that make you happy.

As Ser Rodrik put it in "A Clash of Kings": "When we speak of the morrow nothing is certain." So why should you give up on the things that make you happy today just because they might break your heart in the long run?

To be honest, the Century Superbods diet was making me miserable, too. I was strictly on it for about 10 days when I found myself feeling miserable coz of how much I missed chocolate and ice cream and then I read a line from Tyrion in "A Clash of Kings" saying "If there is food, I eat it, in case there is none on the morrow." (Okay. "A Clash of Kings" might just be the death of me.)

But seriously… I've been thinking… Who cares how much I weigh or whether some asshole calls me fat? Family Mart twirls are totes worth it and even if I end up single for the rest of my life, at least I won't die thinking "Dang. Shoulda had those twirls, man." :p

Get happy on your own terms, stay happy and focus on that happiness.

The mind and the heart can be deceiving, but at least they're yours. The decisions that you make based on how you think and feel are far more important than what other people may think or feel, no matter how much the people that you ask for advice love you.

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate all of the advice that is given to me - the ones that remind me to hope and to stay happy, especially.

However, for those people who judged other people without really knowing them and for those people who just wanted misery for company: I'm sorry. I love you, but my happiness is still my top priority right now because without happiness, I am lost.

So, follow your heart or follow your mind. It doesn't really matter. Just make sure that you follow it forwards. Always move ahead. Grow. Be a better person. And, above all things, be happy. :)

Romwe Giveaway: Win a "COCO MADE ME DO IT" T-Shirt!

Romwe Giveaway: Win a "COCO MADE ME DO IT" T-Shirt!

Funny story: at an event recently, Jason and I spotted someone wearing a "Coco made me do it" cap. Being a straight gentleman, Jason had no idea who Coco was. :p

For the sake of this blog post, let me just spell it out for you: Coco Chanel is well-known to give fashionistas the empowerment to break all of the rules when it comes to fashion. Because of Coco, people the world over have risen and dressed the way that they want to and become their individual selves through their fashion statements. Wearing anything with the 'slogan' "Coco made me do it" kind of reminds people of why they dress the way that they dress: simply because they can.

So, if you have been wondering why the latest trends include this particular slogan, now you know. Without a doubt, you must have spotted all sorts of clothes and accessories with the "Coco made me do it" line on it thus far.

Although it looks like a basic shirt, the slogan makes it eye-catching and you can go cool, casual, wild or classic with it, regardless of what your style is like. You can dress it up or down, wear it with denim shorts or pants, or even with skirts or legging. Either way, you are sure to stand out.

If you've been dreaming to own a piece of clothing with this particular slogan on it, then today is your lucky day for I am giving away one "Coco made me do it" t-shirt from Romwe right here!

The Spa Wellness Provides a Modern Luxe Health Spa Experience at Their Latest Shangri-La Branch

The Spa Wellness Provides a Modern Luxe Health Spa Experience at Their Latest Shangri-La Branch

It is no secret that I am a huge barre3 aficionado. In case you didn't know, though, barre3 is always located in their respective The Spa branches, namely at TriNoma, Richmonde Hotel Eastwood, Rockwell, Bonifacio High Street, Alabang Town Center and Shangri-La Mall.

To be perfectly honest, I have never visited a branch of The Spa that I didn't like. Even if it is located in a busy mall, the minute you walk into The Spa, you will feel like you have been transported into a whole different place. The lights are dim, the air smells of tranquility-heaven, and each branch creates a look reminiscent of renowned international spas.

In Shangri-La Mall, the theme is Modern Luxe.

The Spa Wellness in Shangri-La Mall

The Spa pioneered the concept of luxurious rejuvenation through its massage therapies, body treatments, sublime facials and excellent standards.

Since I used to only work out at The Spa, I was happy to finally have been able to try out one of their amazing body treatments during the opening of The Spa Wellness at Shangri-La Mall and I absolutely loved it.

In fact, it was so relaxing, I dozed off twice. :p

P.S. This isn't me, but you get the picture. :p

As you can see, The Spa is definitely more than just a spa institution now. The Spa Wellness provides a tranquil spirit, a strong body, radiant skin and beyond. "Total wellness is true beauty" has never been truer than at The Spa Wellness.

Want to try out The Spa out for yourself? Then you are in luck for I am hosting an awesome giveaway wherein you can try out their Light and Luminuous Facial. All that you have to do is fill out this Rafflecopter form. :)

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge: Week 1

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge: Week 1

I am a bit of a failure when it comes to weight loss-related anythings. Although I had successfully lost 10kg within the last quarter of 2013, I gained all of it back during and after the holidays. I lost my drive and inspiration, I guess? Lol. I basically just get really fat when I'm single. End of story.

Anyway, because of that, I decided to join this year's Century Tuna Superbods Challenge, wherein I follow a daily meal plan and an exercise plan and basically get hot in 6 weeks. (Check out the full program here: http://centurytuna.ph/superbodschallenge)

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

Can I just clarify that before this, dieting was not part of my life at all? I mean, sure, I went to the gym; but then I'd also have a frappuccino, some milk tea, some cake and some chocolates throughout the day, as well. So yeah, I was basically working out, so I could eat all of that junk rather than working out to lose weight.

After going to the Century Tuna event and hearing nutritionist Nadine Tengco talk about how "80% of weight loss lies in what you eat" and how "abs are made in the kitchen" (naks!), though, I decided to finally take this weight loss thing seriously.

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

Well, my first week of following the diet is over and I figured I'd share my experience with you… just coz the things that happened and went through my head were pretty funny.

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge: Week 1

Day 1

The first day in itself was already pure torture. See, we were meant to tape an on-the-go segment for MadTV and guess what? It was a food trip segment around Taft. Sigh.

I immediately told my happy pill and he suggested I start on Monday. Since I was adamant to get on with it, though, I didn't. Yup. I started the diet on the day we taped a food trip segment.

Yup. We taped the segment at 4 different restaurants and I didn't eat anything but the pieces of cucumbers and tomatoes on the plates of the actual food and the mushrooms on one of the pasta dishes.

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

My Day 1, in a nutshell.

As if that wasn't bad enough, a friend came over that night. But before she did, she called to ask me if I wanted some milk tea first. I said no. Who am I? :(

Day 2

Although I had slept at 4am the night before, the mere thought of getting to put food into my belly again got me out of bed at 7am. During breakfast, I ran out of rice and stared at my ulam for a very long time. What is ulam without rice, after all?

I left home at around 5pm and brought some papaya with me in a ziplock for dinner. Yeah. Don't do that. Most of it turned into papaya juice by 8pm. Luckily for me, Megann met up with me that night and she rescued me with a banana and home-cooked food. Meg is the bomb.

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

What are you smiling about, banana? I don't understand.

Day 3

I went to MOA to watch the pyromusical with the fambam. After dinner, everyone ordered halo-halo. I said no. Seriously: who am I?? :((

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

We do everything together, even get cranky.

Day 4

Day 4 was an errands day, so I brought my banana and papaya smoothie with me while commuting. A kid selling sampaguita saw my drink and approached me, saying "Ate, akin na lang yan." I actually pulled my smoothie back in fear and (almost in tears) said "Ito na nga lang lunch, kukunin mo pa?" LOL. True story.

Day 5

Things were going well. Until my mom brought us to Family Mart and I saw the Green Tea Twirls. Damn you, Family Mart, and your delicious Twirls!!!

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

It was a selfie-sending kind of night. Lol.

Yes, I had a Twirl. I cheated on Day 5. I am a failure. But do not judge me!!! YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENED UNTIL YOU HAVE HAD ONE OF THOSE THINGS. (I swear this is not a Family Mart-sponsored post.)

Day 6

This was my first day back at the gym after I started the Century Tuna diet.

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

I can usually go up to 3.5 hours at the gym without any problems, but that day, I felt really dizzy and tired after only 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, my head was throbbing. I'm not sure if it's coz I was eating too little or coz I needed a cigarette.

I told myself I just needed a cigarette and got on with it.

Day 7

I woke up on Day 7 and sat at the dining table for breakfast. Every day, I sit at that table for breakfast with all of the same things sitting in front of me: peanut butter, jam, Nutella and bread for the rest of the fambam; but that day, it was PEANUT BUTTER, JAM, NUTELLA AND BREAD if you know what I mean. Sigh.

I spent the day dreaming of Hershey's syrup and then, when everyone was eating chips during the MadTV taping, I ate pineapple slices out of a ziplock bag. :( I had one chip to "satisfy the craving", but that didn't really work. FML.

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

Smile through the pain, Anj. Smile through the pain.

I'm not gonna lie. It is a daily battle. Mostly between my mind and my surroundings, really. It really helps to have someone who reminds me to diet, though. Just a simple "Diet ha don't forget." is enough for me to keep my mouth shut and the junk out of it for the rest of the day.

Also, I love a good challenge and this is definitely a great one.

Wanna lose weight, too? Then join the Century Tuna Superbods Challenge and suffer with me! Hahaha.

…please? :( Let's get sexy togethaaa! :p
