Century Tuna Superbods Challenge: Week 1

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge: Week 1

I am a bit of a failure when it comes to weight loss-related anythings. Although I had successfully lost 10kg within the last quarter of 2013, I gained all of it back during and after the holidays. I lost my drive and inspiration, I guess? Lol. I basically just get really fat when I'm single. End of story.

Anyway, because of that, I decided to join this year's Century Tuna Superbods Challenge, wherein I follow a daily meal plan and an exercise plan and basically get hot in 6 weeks. (Check out the full program here: http://centurytuna.ph/superbodschallenge)

Can I just clarify that before this, dieting was not part of my life at all? I mean, sure, I went to the gym; but then I'd also have a frappuccino, some milk tea, some cake and some chocolates throughout the day, as well. So yeah, I was basically working out, so I could eat all of that junk rather than working out to lose weight.

After going to the Century Tuna event and hearing nutritionist Nadine Tengco talk about how "80% of weight loss lies in what you eat" and how "abs are made in the kitchen" (naks!), though, I decided to finally take this weight loss thing seriously.

Well, my first week of following the diet is over and I figured I'd share my experience with you… just coz the things that happened and went through my head were pretty funny.

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge: Week 1

Day 1

The first day in itself was already pure torture. See, we were meant to tape an on-the-go segment for MadTV and guess what? It was a food trip segment around Taft. Sigh.

I immediately told my happy pill and he suggested I start on Monday. Since I was adamant to get on with it, though, I didn't. Yup. I started the diet on the day we taped a food trip segment.

Yup. We taped the segment at 4 different restaurants and I didn't eat anything but the pieces of cucumbers and tomatoes on the plates of the actual food and the mushrooms on one of the pasta dishes.

My Day 1, in a nutshell.

As if that wasn't bad enough, a friend came over that night. But before she did, she called to ask me if I wanted some milk tea first. I said no. Who am I? :(

Day 2

Although I had slept at 4am the night before, the mere thought of getting to put food into my belly again got me out of bed at 7am. During breakfast, I ran out of rice and stared at my ulam for a very long time. What is ulam without rice, after all?

I left home at around 5pm and brought some papaya with me in a ziplock for dinner. Yeah. Don't do that. Most of it turned into papaya juice by 8pm. Luckily for me, Megann met up with me that night and she rescued me with a banana and home-cooked food. Meg is the bomb.

What are you smiling about, banana? I don't understand.

Day 3

I went to MOA to watch the pyromusical with the fambam. After dinner, everyone ordered halo-halo. I said no. Seriously: who am I?? :((

We do everything together, even get cranky.

Day 4

Day 4 was an errands day, so I brought my banana and papaya smoothie with me while commuting. A kid selling sampaguita saw my drink and approached me, saying "Ate, akin na lang yan." I actually pulled my smoothie back in fear and (almost in tears) said "Ito na nga lang lunch, kukunin mo pa?" LOL. True story.

Day 5

Things were going well. Until my mom brought us to Family Mart and I saw the Green Tea Twirls. Damn you, Family Mart, and your delicious Twirls!!!

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

It was a selfie-sending kind of night. Lol.

Yes, I had a Twirl. I cheated on Day 5. I am a failure. But do not judge me!!! YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENED UNTIL YOU HAVE HAD ONE OF THOSE THINGS. (I swear this is not a Family Mart-sponsored post.)

Day 6

This was my first day back at the gym after I started the Century Tuna diet.

Century Tuna Superbods Challenge

I can usually go up to 3.5 hours at the gym without any problems, but that day, I felt really dizzy and tired after only 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, my head was throbbing. I'm not sure if it's coz I was eating too little or coz I needed a cigarette.

I told myself I just needed a cigarette and got on with it.

Day 7

I woke up on Day 7 and sat at the dining table for breakfast. Every day, I sit at that table for breakfast with all of the same things sitting in front of me: peanut butter, jam, Nutella and bread for the rest of the fambam; but that day, it was PEANUT BUTTER, JAM, NUTELLA AND BREAD if you know what I mean. Sigh.

I spent the day dreaming of Hershey's syrup and then, when everyone was eating chips during the MadTV taping, I ate pineapple slices out of a ziplock bag. :( I had one chip to "satisfy the craving", but that didn't really work. FML.

Smile through the pain, Anj. Smile through the pain.

I'm not gonna lie. It is a daily battle. Mostly between my mind and my surroundings, really. It really helps to have someone who reminds me to diet, though. Just a simple "Diet ha don't forget." is enough for me to keep my mouth shut and the junk out of it for the rest of the day.

Also, I love a good challenge and this is definitely a great one.

Wanna lose weight, too? Then join the Century Tuna Superbods Challenge and suffer with me! Hahaha.

…please? :( Let's get sexy togethaaa! :p
