Sometimes, your knight in shining armor is just a retard in tin foil.

Please take note that I wrote this yesterday aka before shit hit the fan. While it is no longer how I feel at this very moment, I hope you still enjoy it and get something out of it anyway. :)

I spent the past half-year of my life trying to glue back the pieces of a completely shattered, dishonest and unfulfilling relationship partly because I didn't want to give up so easily, partly because I wanted to prove something to my parents and partly because I was scared of losing a good friend.

In the end, all I ended up doing was waste six months of my life in a depressed, frustrated and unhappy revelry. Plus, I lost that good friend.

I used to look back and hesitate to let go coz I was convinced I was letting go of something great; but then, while re-watching '(500) Days of Summer', Tom Hansen's sister reminded me: "I think you're just remembering the good stuff. Next time you look back, I really think you should look again."

I think that's the best way to move on. To think about all the shitty things you went through with a person. The days when you were under-appreciated, repeatedly lied to and left to rot in sexlessness, for example. #foreverbitter

Did that person actually ever make you feel genuinely good? And not in the puppy love kilig way, but genuinely. Did they do lil yet important things for you? Were they willing to go out of their way for you? Did they let you breathe? Did they always make it a point to compliment and thank you?

If the answer for any of that is no, then it's time to suck it up and face the fact that he really isn't your knight in shining armor, but probably just a pathetic jerk wrapped in tin foil. And, although not ideal, being single is probably the better choice at this point.

There will be someone better out there for you. Someone who understands your weirdness and embraces it, if not complements it. Someone who will appreciate even the smallest of things and who will never take you for granted.

Remember: don't stick to anything less than you deserve. Move on. God has better plans for you, so don't fight it. Have faith :)
